Fundraising for charity is something all schools should be involved with. Not only can this help raise money for much needed projects for those less fortunate overseas, school children from the UK can also learn about other children's cultures and beliefs. They can see how children in the countries IRT support live their day-to-day lives, where they go to school, and where they live.
IRT is placing great emphasis on projects that support primary education and nurture enterprise. To help schools in the UK learn about our work, we can link whole classrooms to school children supported by IRT in one of our project countries. We can also come to your school to talk to you about our projects in more detail, describe how the lives of refugee children differ from those in the UK, and the different ways you can make a real difference to their lives and their futures.
We have a number of education projects which need urgent funding for essential items such as books, chairs and desks.
If you would like to get your school involved with IRT then please contact us for more information.
IRT Classroom is a brand new resources tool for teachers and students to use in class. It is aimed to accompany fundraising efforts. Through fun and educational activities, prepared by us so it will not cost teachers much preparation time, pupils will grow to understand why it is necessary to do the fundraising in the first place. They will become aware of where the money goes, why these people are having such a difficult time, and the impact conflict has on people. The activities will aim to bring the situation to life for the students. Please visit IRT Classroom and explore all the things you can do to learn about forced migration.
