Welcome to IRT's shop!
Making cards at Wawoto Kacel CooperativeIRT has been involved with Wawoto Kacel Cooperative since 2009. Wawoto Kacel means “Walking together” in the local language and is a social art & crafts cooperative created in 1997 in Gulu, Northern Uganda, by a group of HIV positive women with the help of the Ugandan NGO Comboni Samaritans of Gulu.
The Comboni Samaritans are a community based organisation made up of 40 local people who are mentored by the Comboni Sisters. They have achieved considerable success and two years ago won second prize in a Ugandan government voluntary sector awards programme for best practice and financial transparency. They are running a number of projects and over the last four years IRT has supported their work with orphans and health programmes.

The products made by the Wawoto Kacel Cooperative have been so successful that they are now sold locally and internationally. By selling products on behalf of Wawoto Kacel, the community members gain an invaluable income and a sense of independence and dignity.
IRT aims to support the Wawoto Kacel Cooperative through buying and selling on their products to our supporters to make a name for Wawoto Kacel. From the sales of the products IRT will be able to support the Comboni Samaritans as well as our other projects overseas.
