DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL REFUGEE TRUST ON THE
GROUND IN SUDAN WITH THE COMBONI SISTERS.

Adrian Hatch, Director of International Refugee Trust, has just returned from Nzara, in South West Sudan, 16 miles from the border with North East Congo. He was visiting projects supported by IRT and run by the Comboni Missionary Sisters for the Sudanese people returning to their homes after a bitter civil war.
But then he came face to face with an even more desperate need.
Rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army are now causing unimaginable suffering in North East Congo and South West Sudan. A few weeks ago in the Congolese town of Bangadi they attacked at 4.00am and ran riot through the town. The chief of the town estimates that 600 people were killed. Children were rounded up, put in thatched huts and burned alive. Others were hacked to death with machetes. Several hundred women and children were taken captive.
Congolese people are fleeing for their lives across the border into Sudan and Sudanese people have had their homes destroyed by LRA raids. The Comboni Sisters are giving what little they have to help these people, numbering 5,000 and increasing every day. Adrian accompanied them to distribute food and blankets and a nurse went with them to help the sick.
Adrian Hatch said, “In all my years working and helping the people of Africa I have never seen such suffering – no food, no shelter, no medicines. Virtually everyone had lost a wife or husband or some of their children. Tears poured down their faces.”

PLEASE HELP IRT AND THE SISTERS REACH THE PEOPLE IN NEED.
No amount is too small and EVERY PENNY you send will go to Sudan.
