Trustee (two positions open)

IRT is looking to recruit two new Trustees for its Board. This is an opportunity to help in the governance of some fantastic work improving the lives of refugees, internally displaced people and returnees around the world. Currently we support a wide range of projects with local partner agencies in countries including South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Jordan.

 Chair of the Board of Trustees

IRT is looking to recruit a new Chair for its Board, as our current Chair is due to step down after an extended and successful period at the helm. This is an opportunity to help in the governance of some fantastic work improving the lives of refugees, internally displaced people and returnees around the world. Currently we support a wide range of projects with local partner agencies in countries including South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Jordan.

This role will require high-level strategy and risk-management skills as well as significant experience of leading organisations and a genuine commitment to the work of IRT. The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each Trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.

The Chair will also support the Chief Executive in delivering the Strategic Plan and achieving agreed annual targets. The Chair will ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives. He or she will act as an ambassador and be the public face of the charity in partnership with the Chief Executive and the Board of Trustees.

Internship Opportunities

Overview

Internships at IRT offer students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain experience in the humanitarian sector. Internships are offered only at IRT’s office in London. IRT accepts applications only from those able to commit for a minimum of four hours per week for a duration of three months.

Please be aware that all internship opportunities focus primarily on research, social media, fundraising and general administration.

Please note, we do NOT send interns abroad.

We are based in Chiswick, London. The opportunity is unpaid, however you will be reimbursed for your travel costs and your lunch.
