This hospital, run by the Comboni Sisters, is an oasis of care and skill in the poorest part of Amman. It is staffed by Christians, Muslims, Jordanians and Europeans and is a beacon of tolerance in an area of the world where religious and racial tensions abound.
IRT has been supporting it since 1998 and over that time have bought vital items of equipment for baby care and eye care, and have provided the funds to build and equip two new operating theatres.
We are currently raising money to ensure that the Sisters can treat the desperate and penniless refugees who appeal to them for help.
Without this school many blind and partially sighted children from Palestinian refugee camps in the north of Jordan could not get an education. Their parents could not afford to send them to specialist schools in Amman. The Episcopal Church is running this school which is integrating visually disabled children with sighted children so that they receive as normal an education as possible.
